This generative series of digital and analogue sculptures and prints reappraises the genre and aesthetics of the vanity within the digital condition. The Great Decimation transitions from the digitisation of a human skull to its topological decimation by a custom algorithm to its declination in stepped figurations to be finally projected back into the physical world as re-naturalized artefacts, the series journeys into a world of existential self-reflection after the digital.
Reiterating the series' generated vanities, this version picked two decimated skulls, Encased Vanities, that vibrate between one figure and another and encased them in a deep frame. The digitised skulls were 3d printed and hand-coated to be re-naturalized. They appear bleached out, encased in a magnifying cold volume that fuses digital and organic aesthetics to place the object in archaeological times of a future yet to be imagined.
